  • 1 teaspoon dried basil or fresh basil if available
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder adds flavor

Method
 

  1. Arrange the halved bagels cut-side up on a baking sheet, ensuring enough space between each for even baking.
  2. Spread about a tablespoon of tomato sauce evenly over each bagel half, covering the surface completely but leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Sprinkle a generous layer of shredded mozzarella cheese over the sauce on each bagel, creating a cheesy, even topping.
  4. Sprinkle dried basil and garlic powder evenly over the cheese, then season lightly with salt and pepper to enhance flavor.
  5. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 8 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden around the edges.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly for a minute; the cheese should be melted and gooey, with crispy edges on the bagel.
